Meet The Top Five Most Popular Members Of Parliament in The Central Region. (Opinion)

Elections are held every four years to select a President and a Member of Parliament. In this article, our main focus is on the Members Of Parliament. In Ghana, there are 275 constituencies, and each constituency have a Member of Parliament who represents them. MPs represent people's concerns and interests in the Parliament.

One such region that is regarded as a swing region is the Central Region. In terms of the number of seats won by each political party, the National Democratic Congress is currently leading. That notwithstanding, there are some five MPs who are very popular in the Central Region.

1.Ophelia Mensah Hayford

She is a Ghanaian Politician. She contested in the 2020 Ghanaian General Election and won the parliamentary seat for the Mfantsiman Constituency. She became very popular when her husband, Ekow Quansah Hayford, died and she was made to replace him.

2.Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin

He is the Member of the Parliament of Ghana for the Effutu constituency, Central Region. Serving also on the committee of Defense and the Interior Finance Committee in Ghana Parliament.

3.Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

He is a Ghanaian politician and businessman who represents Assin Central in parliament for the New Patriotic Party. He was first elected a member of parliament in 2000 to the seat of Assin North. He retained his seat in the 2004 and 2008 parliamentary elections. In 2012 he was elected in the new seat of Assin Central and was re-elected in 2016. He also retained his seat in the 2020 general elections.

4 Cassiel Ato Forson

He is a Ghanaian politician and member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana representing the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency in the Central Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). In 2013 he served as the deputy minister for Finance.

5.Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison

She is a Ghanaian politician and a member of the New Patriotic Party. She is currently the member of parliament for Agona West constituency. On 9 August 2018, she was appointed Minister designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection by President
