President Akufo-Addo has said that criticising the work of the media should not be seen as an attack on journalists. He also relied on his role in the repeal of the criminal libel law in his defense against the assertion that the media is under attack under his leadership.
However, Mr Kwesi Pratt in reacting to the comments by the president, on Metro TV, insists it doesn't matter whether the President has played a role in the repeal of the criminal libel law or not. He also took exception to the assertion by the president that he is the most vilified person in the country.
"You have played a role in the repeal of the criminal libel law but the fact is that journalists are being killed. So whatever role he played in the repeal of the criminal libel law is neither here nor there. The fact is journalists are being beaten in the performance of their jobs.
"The president ought to be realistic. If the president thinks the current situation is fine, then we are in deep trouble", he stated.
