There were several publications and news alerts in the early hours of today, Tuesday 5th October, 2021, which suggested that Honourable Ken Ofori Atta as a the has stepped down as the Finance Minister as he continues to battle for his life.
Has the Honourable Ken Ofori Atta really resigned?
The Ministry of Finance has issued a press statement addressing the purported resignation of the Minister of Finance, Honourable Ken Ofori Atta.
The statement said: " The attention of the Ministry of Finance has been drawn to rumours circulating on social media platforms that the Ministry for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta has resigned from his position"
The Ministry wishes to assure the general public that there is no truth in these rumours. Mr Ken Ofori Atta is at post and focused on his mandate given to him by His Excellency the President, to serve the people of Ghana in his capacity as Finance Minister."
Ken Ofori Atta is the only Finance Minister under the Fourth Republic to spend more than four years in that role.
