Recently, social media has been ringing with indignation over serious allegations made by outspoken NDC Member of Parliament and former Deputy Minister for Education under the erstwhile Mahama administration. According to the North Tongu MP, President Akuffo-Addo allegedly hired another expensive plane for his recent trips.
Recall, the same Member of Parliament, Okudzeto Ablakwa alleged that the President hired a plane at an exorbitant cost for his trips to France last month. This issue sparked a longstanding controversy between Ghanaians on social media as they called for investigation into the allegation.
The recent one, according to him was used by the President on his trips to Germany for the summit between African leaders and German government. Information from his official Facebook page called for policy on Presidential travels as the President seems to be acting against the interest of Ghanaians.
Today, September 1, 2020 the Member of Parliament was interviewed on Asempa FM's Ekosiisen show. In what can be described as a disappointment, the MP decried the president's behaviour, which breaches the public interest.
Speaking further, he revealed that he and his cohorts will continuously monitor the President's move and travels until a policy is made to facilitate his travels. He indicated that, the expenditure on a single travel is a loss to the country.
He said, "It has become clear that we will need a law on this issue. Ministers keep swerving their responsibilities to provide Ghanaians answers. Is it that they are failing to account their stewardship to the general public. We will continue haunting and monitoring his (President Akuffo-Addo) moves."
"This is a clear issue that needs considerable attention. We can't allow this to continue whiles voters are calling for the country to be fixed."
