Mrs Ophelia Quansah, first wife of the late Ekow Quansah, has just filed her nomination forms to contest for the parliamentary seat at Mfantseman.
Ophelia was asked by the NPP party to replace her late husband in the upcoming elections.
She accepted the offer and subsequently resigned from the Ghana police service. She was an ACP.
Today, flanked by party bigwigs such as Hawa Koomson, and other top brass party executives, and as crowd of about 500 party supporters and sympathizers, Ophelia marched to the EC's office to officially file her nomination forms.
However, unlike usual filing events that are usually marked by celebration, today's march was solemn and sorrowful.
The parade regularly met Ekow Quansah's campaign photographs along the road. At any such juncture, the widow stopped, stared and signed heavily.
This caused the crowd to erupt into mourning. It was a solemn march.
