On Thursday, November 11, 2021, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia led a group from his family to the Manhyia Palace to thank the overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his generosity during his mother's death.
The vice president, who was leading a family visit to the Manhyia Palace, said he was overwhelmed when the palace dispatched a group to Mamprugu to attend the final death rites of his mother, Hajia Mariama Bawumia.
"We came to express our thanks in our fathers' house, and I can't thank you enough for what you did during my mother's death; we are all grateful, the entire Mamprugu," says the group.
Mamprugu appreciates Otumfuo's acts because they show his devotion to togetherness and his family as a whole, he said.
He claims that he no longer has a mother or father, and that Otumfuo has demonstrated that he is a father to everybody.
"You were truly involved in the burial; you demonstrated that I am your son; now that I have no mother or father, you are everything to me, which is why we are here today to express our gratitude."
Dr. Bawumia was visiting the palace with his family and several New Patriotic Party (NPP) officials.
