Instead of politicians to improve the health sector and economy, we’ve noticed how selfish political leaders are in Ghana. The leaders have thrown national development ideas into bins. Both NPP and NDC become friends with the citizens only when demanding for power. Ghanaian political leaders dump we citizens after they gain what they want. Pregnant women in the country die daily, subjected to inability to fuel ambulance to transfer them to our hospitals. Politicians, however, take customized aircraft to Germany, USA, Canada, Dubai, China. They seek for good medical attention. These countries were like us, their politicians have sympathy for members of the society. The fact is African leaders and politicians are self centered.
Speaker of Parliament Hon. Alban Bagbin left a letter behind suggesting his absence to the house until 23 January. The Speaker explained that his trip for another medical review in UAE, Dubai. Why politicians don’t want to seek medical attention in Ghana? All political stars know how Ghana Health sector lacks facilities and equipments. This has made their work look more unprofessional. Ghanaian politicians look down on our local Doctors and Nurses by traveling outside for medicals. Ghanaians are dying; pregnant women, accident victims and more lose their precious lives because of poor working conditions in the health sector.
What mindset are the leaders having for us? A person like me and you don’t have enough money to seek medical attention in Ghana not to talk of overseas. Are we going to watch the leaders as corruption washes the nation away? My concern with writing this article is about how the leaders of Ghana manages health sector. The leaders must not underestimate health in Ghana. If the sector is maintained and improved, there will be no need to travel outside for health reason. Let’s araise Ghanaian Youth.
