Dr. Paul Opoku Mensah, Executive Secretary of the National Cathedral of Ghana, has rebuked the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for peddling absolute untruths about the national project.
He finds it deeply disturbing Mr. Ablakwa’s ridiculous claim that the National Cathedral has been registered as a private entity, something he dismissed as palpably false – a complete lie.
Dr. Opoku Mensah said if indeed there had been serious breaches – wrongdoings, the North Tongu MP should know what to do.
He asked why Mr. Ablakwa is not asking for investigations by the appropriate state institutions.
“I understand the political context, the competition in politics, but really there is a certain threshold we should not fall under.”
The MP should not be allowed to get away with the peddling of untruths and making all sorts of unsubstantiated allegations without providing a shred of evidence.
He noted that the issues that are being recklessly bandied around could sink the country.
Dr. Opoku Mensah questioned why Ablakwa continues to be unrepentant in digging dirt on the President and other dignified personalities associated with the National Cathedral.
Dr. Opoku Mensah had earlier challenged people shouting themselves hoarse and raising hell over the construction of the national project to go to court if they are really convinced that there has been any acts of criminality and wrongdoing.
He said he had been struggling to understand why Ghanaians have been subjecting the nation year after year for four years to intense build up and he invited everybody to accept to begin to have a rational conversation of the National Cathedral.
Dr Opoku Mensah does not see the need for anybody to subject the nation to absolutely unnecessary tension.
Mr. Ablakwa had earlier in a Facebook post hinted there would be more leaks on the National Cathedral.
