Akontombra Assembly erupts into ecstatic scenes

The Akontombra District Assembly erupted into wild jubilation following the overwhelming endorsement of Yawson Amoah as the District Chief Executive (DCE).

He received 100 percent approval by the assembly with all the 20 members voting yes for him.

This was at an election supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) and witnessed by large crowd of party supporters, relatives and friends.

An obviously excited Mr Amoah, said he was humbled and expressed his gratefulness to the appointing authority and the assembly.

He pledged open- door administration and to work with everybody.

He was going to be transparent and accountable in the management of resources meant to transform the lives of the people.

Priority attention would be given to the completion of all on-going development projects of the assembly.

Mr. Richard Obeng, the Western North Regional Minister, tallied the chiefs, assembly members and the people to give strong support to the DCE.

It could not be a solo effort, everybody should accept to play their expected part to make things better.

In other news, the police has vowe to act tough with violent political youth

The police would act firmly to arrest and prosecute any violent political party affiliated youth.

Police Superintendent Augustine Kwaku Mensah, the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Commander, said they would not close their eyes to any act of lawlessness.

Those who broke the law should expect to answer for their actions.

He was speaking at a forum held to discuss how to prevent violence and extremism among the young people in Bibiani.

It was organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) with support from the European Union.

Supt Mensah told the youth to refuse to be manipulated by politicians for any self-serving agenda.

They should say no to violence and channel their abundant energies into useful ventures.

The youth should use their heads and focus on living their dreams.

The Western North Regional NCCE Director, Sam Awudu

Dramani, said violence had never been the right thing to do and should be roundly rejected.

He asked all to accept to work together to sustain the country on the path of peace.
