As the controversy about the digitalisation agenda of the government continues, a former member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Stephen Atubiga has pounced on former President John Dramani Mahama with some heated jokes. As some supporters of the NDC are counteracting claims by Vice President Dr Bawumia that the current government needs to be credited with massive investment in the country's digitalisation drive, Mr Atubiga is questioning the NDC if they had the competence to handle such a facility it is evident they failed to simply collate election results.
In his latest post on Facebook, Mr Atubiga revisited the ‘failed’ electronic collation of election results at the NDC’s strong room during the 2020 general elections. With an image of former President John Mahama busily crosschecking some figures when they were in the poll lead, Mr Atubiga posed a funny question about the system that the party deployed for the election.
He wondered if Mr Mahama is ready to disclose to Ghanaians the type of system the NDC deployed for the collation exercise. He asked; “Bole Bamboi Mugabe still has enough time to tell us if he was substantiating the lost pink sheets in the Binduri internet Cafe through a Digital or an Analogue system?”
To him, given that John Mahama had failed to win the presidential elections on two consecutive attempts, it would be right for him to lay down the button for others to contest on the ticket of the NDC.
“I just hope he steps aside for others to also have a dream from our mother's party.“
Mr Atubiga continued that it would be troubling for John Mahama to present himself for another election on the background of election defeat, and as a former President who had just served a term in office.
“The most dangerous request in this world is, A Man asking for a 3rd round or a politician asking for a 3rd term in office. ..especially from a defeated former president,” he added.
