The Communicator Accused Journalists of Misinformation
The Upper West Regional Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bukari Ali has referred to some journalists in Upper West as not worthy to be called journalists for referring to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as a Dentist.
"Mr Bukari Ali Npp Communications Director for the Upper West Region writes
It's sad that some of those who sit behind consoles in our media houses think they can say anything any time and any how. So they spurt whatever that comes to their uninformed minds into the microphone. What does it take to know what the energy minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh did in school and which professional group he belongs? So those who cherish your station and or your programme have been misinformed that Napo is a dentist. Omg!
As I write this piece, one of them is busily calling Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh a "teeth Doctor" on Radio. He's proud to be called a journalist and he's there talking with pride and with shameful bravado. In fact, this 'journalist' questioned the minister what he did in the education ministry. It's petrifying.
One thing media people must bear in mind, is that, a lot of people listen to them and swallow whatever they hear on radio hook, line and sinker. So it's imperative that journalists show a great deal of responsibility while on air.
Mr. journalist, in your constant quest to discredit duty bearers, you keep exposing the very ignorant noise making self to your listeners. A simple Google search could've taught you that, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh is not a dentist, but a surgeon.
I discourage you from engaging in outlandish journalism but to stick to the tenets of the noble profession. In fact, you're worse than the most unformed opposition serial caller. How can you call a surgeon a "teeth doctor" just because you heard others make noise about the minister?
In fact, you devalue the media house that you work with, if you must be told.
I applaud the decent journalists in our region and encourage them to continue to Educate, Inform and entertain us as required by the noble profession - journalism.
The media is considered as the fourth estate of the realm and so those who opt to belong there must know they belong to the sphere of the nobles and shouldn't be seen as double rousers behind the console."
