IThe arrival of the Astrazeneca vaccine into the country had caused a lot of stirs among some Ghanaians opting not to take the vaccine. According to the 24th Nation's address from the President, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, the vaccine will be taken by four group of persons.
The vaccine, which was taken by the President on the 1st of March, 2021 was also confidently taken by the chairman of the Church of Pentecost on Tuesday 2nd March, 2021. Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Chairman of the COP, made himself available to be screened and vaccinated. This was done to urge the public space to massively take the vaccine, which is to provide some immunity in the general public. The chairman, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, is part of the second group of persons who are to make themselves available for the vaccine to bring confidence in the public and he did just that.
The 1st group of persons to be vaccinated was the President, Veep and their respective wives. The 2nd group are those in authority, the public services, media and influential personalities including religious leaders, chiefs, some celebraties, political leaders and others. The 3rd category are the rest of the general public, which are persons above eighteen (18) years with the exception of children under eighteen and pregnant women. The fourth group would be vaccinated with an appropriate vaccine in the future with enough safety data, and these are pregnant mother's or women and children under eighteen. I
Special arrangements, according to President Nana Akufo-Addo, would be made for persons with disability to take the vaccine as well. The entire period of vaccination, which begins with the public from 2nd of March will end by 15th March, 2021. Ghanaians, having seen these religious personalities taking the vaccine, like Apostle Eric Nyamekye, would be influenced to make themselves available to be vaccinated for a systemic immunity.
