The honorable member representing the Effutu constituency, Honorable Afenyo Markins has been trolled on social media for taking a partisan viewpoint on the evacuation of Ghanaians from Ukraine. On Asaase radio's morning show, Honorable Afenyo Markins explained that he as an individual never said that parliament must approve e-levy so that the government can get money to evacuate Ghanaians from Ukraine.
According to him, the statement he made was intended to create or make a strong case for the majority caucus on the need to pass the electronic levy. He believed that this is the most crucial time for the government to have revenue from e-levy since the world is about to be set in a crisis because of the misunderstanding between Ukraine and Russia. He explained that both imports into the country and export out of the country are going to be affected and as such, the world economy is going to suffer; Ghana being no exception.
