Introducing his side of dignitaries to Otumfour Osei Tutu, Akufo Addo mentioned the Agric Minister Dr. Osei Akoto and Alan Kwadwo Kyetemateng as people likely to succeed him. He added that, the two wants to succeed him when he is out of office.
According to him, Dr. Afriyie Osei Akoto has already declared his intention with Alan Kwadwo Kyetemateng.
"Your highness, let me introduce my dignitaries to you. From right is Dr. Afriyie Akoto the Agric Minister who is hoping to succeed me as President. Next to him is Alan Kwadwo Kyetemateng. He has been eyeing the seat for long. Such a workaholic Minister" The President mentioned amidst laughter.
Many people were of the view that, although Bawumia wasn't present, Akufo Addo should have subtly introduced him as a contender to Alan Kwadwo Kyetemateng and Afriyie Akoto.
As to when and where Alan Kwadwo Kyetemateng and Afriyie Akoto declared their intentions to the President, we're yet to know. As internal politics in the NPP is still barred by the constitution.
Could the President's Action be an early campaign for the Ashanti NPP caucus? Perhaps, he may announce same on behalf of Bawumia anytime he visits Walewale.
Let's hope so.
