Over 80 or 200 hectares of lands constitute the heart of the turmoil that emerged at a peaceful Dome Faase. At the result of the agitations that led to serious brutalization and injuries of two military men found on the litigious lands, 4 vehicles were burnt, guns remained missing, residents no where to be found and Dome Faase from violent protestations turned to ghost land.
A day later after the incident, heavy military presence was deployed in the area. Many residents have to flee, fearing the reprisal of the men in uniform.
Member of parliament of Domeabra, Sophia Ackuaku expressed her surprise and her doubt about the deployed men. "We have not seen any card, anything that shows that men deployed are really military men" could she trigger.
According to reports, over 50 residents were arrested while most of them found refuge behind mountains. Some also are reported to have left the area for the neighboring agglomerations like Accra, Kasoa.
Adib Saani , Executive Director of Jatikay, condemned the actions of the youth that resulted to the brutalization of the two military men but at the same time threw the ball to the base of Ghana Armed Forces.
According to him, over some period now, top people could easily acquire services of military men to help them protect, secure their land and even retrieve debts deriving from loan for them.
Prosper Nortey Addo, security expert hammered the disaffection generated after the electoral registration process and questioned the involvement of military men in handling land dispute instead of proper state agencies.
