On December 7th, 2020, Ghanaians went to their various pollen stations to elect their preferred choice of candidate standing for the presidential and the parliamentary elections.
On the 9th of December, 2020, the chairperson of the electoral commission, who is also the returning officer for the presidential election, Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa declared the final verdict of the people where she declared the incumbent president, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo as the winner of the 2020 presidential elections.
After this declaration, the National Democratic Congress acclaimed the results to be fictionalised, flawed and rigged and in so they sent a petition to the Supreme Court. The sole significant point of the petition is that, both the leading candidates for the presidential elections did not meet the required criteria to be pronounced as the president elect.
Just yesterday, the Supreme Court with the panel of judges led by the Chief Justice Animals Tobiah dismissed the petitioner's petition acclaiming it to be feeble and that the petitioner's second and third witnesses didn't offer any evidence and in so they cannot order a run-off.
In my sincere opinion, the panel of judges didn't make a right choice, they should have allowed madam Jean Mensa to be cross examined by Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata so that she explains some certain things to the nation.
