Barely three months after the last general elections, the conversation about the next one which is expected to be held in 2024 have already began. The Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) recently predicted a win for the opposition NDC in a caveat that, the victory depends on the party putting up a fresh face other than John Mahama.
Unconfirmed reports are that John Mahama is likely to show up again in the next elections according to the report. This has generated a lot of controversy and debate within the rank and file of the party and to a large extent has become a national conversation.
On Joy FM's top story, deputy general secretary of the party Peter Boamah Otukonor has disclosed, John Mahama is the only marketable candidate for the NDC in the 2024 elections. Reacting to the EIU's report, he said the entity has not proven credible over the years especially because most of their reports are not based on proper scientific research but merely conjecture.
"They are just riding on the back of the reality that dawned on them after the 2020 elections, but for the fraud perpetrated on the people of Ghana, President Akuffo Addo will have been history. Everybody is aware, the NDC is winning the next elections".
Again, he said the conversation for a Presidential candidate has been ongoing for a while now and the grassroots are resolved to give John Mahama another chance if he decides to contest. John Mahama is a better choice, marketable candidate, loved and known by many and is the best bet for the party.
"It will be ridiculous to change Mahama and the worst political strategist will not settle on the decision to bring a fresh face to be marketed".
The loud appeal from the middle class and the Ghanaian populace is a sign of his achievements and impeccable track records. We are ready to re-strategize, correct the wrongs and revitalize our base for victory in 2024.
