Abeiku Santa Has Expressed His Disappointment In Dr Bawumia Over E-Levy Passage

Radio Personality, Abeiku Santa has expressed his disappointment in Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia for not being truthful and neglecting the needs of the people, and going ahead to pass the e-levy bill, with the President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo assenting his signature.

The government received serious backlash from Ghanaians, after parliament on Tuesday, passed the e-levy bill in spite of a nationwide outburst to abort the whole process.

The bill was passed at a 0.25 reduced rate, hence introducing a 1.5 percent tax on all electronic transactions and Mobile Money transfers exceeding Ghs 100.

Many Ghanaians see the tax as another burden amid the recent economic hardship in the country. Speaking as a panelist on yesterday's United Showbiz on UTV, Abeiku Santana expressed his grievances and how the government has turn deaf ears to public outcry over the e-levy bill.

"I am highly disappointed in Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, who before the 2020 general election made a promise, that his government won't tax MOMO transfers, if they are voted into power" and here we are today, he added.
