The Co-operative Fishermen Service Centre (Western Region-Sekondi Premix Office) which was constructed in 1999 during the era of its first coordinator, Mr. Tawiah affectionately called "Ewuradze I call you" keeps deteriorating to the surprise of its many patrons despite the major role it plays in the fisheries subsector of the economy.
The deteriorated structure is situated around the vicinity of the office of the Western Regional Coordinating Council in Sekondi.
The Western Regional Premix Office is specifically used to coordinate the quantum of received premix fuel that is to be distributed to the coastal communities in the region after which details are faxed to the National Pre-Mix authority in Accra.
It is said the facility started deteriorating when Mr K. Abbey assumed office as the premix coordinator when the National Democratic Congress lost the 2000 General Elections.
Furthermore, due to political differences among leaders, it is alleged that certain politically clothed people are not making proper usage of the premix office for its intended purposes because, "the structure was constructed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the early 90s".
Investigations conducted by the western regional Vision1 Fm correspondent, revealed that the "Western Regional Premix Office" has become progressively worse because of political lenses among indigenes together with leaders in the region.
In an exclusive interview with Vision1 FM western regional correspondent, informant Mr. Kobina A. Nyansafo, categorically stated that, he currently cannot identify any location in the region where coordinating of the the received premix fuel is done as the neglected western regional premix office continues to deteriorate.
Mr. Kobina Adu Nyansafo emphasized that for the Co-operative Fishermen Service Centre Union Ltd, to have its facelift, it did not depend on the Central Government but solely on people in the region if only the negative mindset and political perceptions towards development will change.
The Western Regional correspondent for VISION1 FM who doubles as Sekondi-Takoradi community reporter's further checks at the deteriorated facility found items including Membership Cards, Agricultural Development Bank Cheque Book, Ghana Co-operative Bank Ltd - Sekondi Branch, Ahantaman Rural Bank Ltd Sekondi Agency, Letters, Files, GNPC Monitoring Coupon among others.
