Yaw Oppong who was a panelist on Samson Anyenini’s NewsFile on JoyNews television made this statement when he was giving his submission on the dismissal of John Mahama’s court case by the supreme court.
“Samson, I can tell you that personally I have learnt a lot and I thought I’ve had enough until the judgment also came and it is good for all of us.
Let me also commend John Mahama for commencing the action in the first place. As much as we all know that it can raise tempers or emotions and the cost involved, it also helps to develop our legal system.
It is one of the main case that in my view, has enhanced the believe and the trust of the generality of the people in the court that where there is dispute, it is resolvable by law and an important dispute about presidential elections in particular.
I think in the last parliamentary elections alone; the disputes are 18. The people have now resolved not to take up arms and throw out insults. This shows that we have come to the stage where we go to the court and after the pronouncement, there is calm and peace.” – He stated
