On Tuesday ,March 29,2022, the Minister for Finance moved the motion in parliament for the approval of the reviewed 1.5% E- levy bill . The minority who were not impressed with the turn of things walked out of the house . The bill has been passed by the house of Parliament as Speaker Alan Bagbin presided over the election of the passage of the bill via a voice voting .
In fact , the minority in Parliament were not in the house to oppose the bill and so it was easy sailing for its consideration .
According to the Minority member ,they walked out because they did not want to return to the court to contest the vote casted by the Assin North MP and besides , they know that their absence will nullify the votes of the 137 majority members considering the fact that the majority did not meet the quorum of 138 per the 1992 constitution.
