Readers can recall how the Inspector General of Police announced an initiative to replace officers, who died during their line of duties, with their children who qualified. The public debate on the subject has been very intense.
TV3 Ghana posted a picture of Dr Adam Bonaa, a security analyst, on its heavily followed social media platform.
The post was headlined on the fact that Dr Adam Bonaa welcomes the IGP's initiative of replacing the dead officials with their qualified offspring.
There have been interesting reactions to Dr Adam Bonaa's endorsement as some citizens have disagreed with him.
Dr Bonaa has been told that it is only in Ghana that children whose parents are officers would be able to easily inherit that profession.
Other Ghanaians have advised that placement into the Ghana Police Service should be a matter of merit and interest on the part of children.
They warned that if care is not taken, the new initiative would lead to the recruitment of criminals.
However, since the IGP has assured that only qualified ones among such children would be given the nod, it is expected that criminals would not have a place after the recruitment processes.
