Boakye Agyarko speaks on election 2016 and 2020

Mr. Boakye Agyarko, the Former Minister of Energy in President Nana Addo’s first term has suggested that, New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) victory in the 2020 elections was a pyrrhic victory.

According to him, even though the NPP won elections, it came at a great cost to the party.

Advising the delegates, Mr. Agyarko said… compared to the 2016 elections; where the NPP won both the presidential and parliamentary elections massively, the number of votes for President Nana Addo dropped drastically in the 2020 election, and same to the parliamentary seats.

Mr. Agyarko stated that, the NPP struggled in the 2020 elections, “in one election, we lost 32 seats, in one election the presidential majority dropped by 500,000 votes”.

Speaking to the New Patriotic Party’s delegates in the Eastern Region, on Sunday October 17, 2021, Mr. Agyarko suggested that, the NPP’s victory in 2020 elections was a pyrrhic victory; adding that, “That is a clear indication that we have a lot of work to do. The work depends on Eastern Region, we have to ensure that this does not occur in the next election and whatever support Boakye Agyarko will need to give, I will do just that”.

Addressing the Eastern Regional delegates of the party, Mr. Agyarko advised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in the Eastern Region, not to fail the NPP comes election 2024.
