Pfizer Institute-Germany denied President Akuffo Addo a one-on-one audience, a sign of disrespect?

Monday, August 30 2021

The President HE Nana Akuffo Addo is in Germany on a seven day trip to the western country. According to a press statement that preceded his journey, the main motive behind the President's travel was to afford him a one on one meeting with the CEO and board members of Pfizer Inc., the company behind the manufacturing of Pfizer covid-19 vaccine. This was part of the Government's preparation for commercial production of Covid-19 vaccine locally, the statement added.

However, a press conference held under the auspices of the Director of Communications at the Presidency Mr. Eugene Arhin gave counter information regarding the President's trip. Mr. Arhin told journalists that the motive of the President's visit changed. He said contrary to the earlier communication that the President was to meet Pfizer one on one, Pfizer was rather going to make a presentation to selected Presidents in Africa including President Akuffo Addo.

This according to Eugene Arhin became necessary because other African countries had similar difficulties like Ghana. The German Chancellor, Agela Mickel decided that all countries with challenges similar to that of Ghana should therefore come together for Pfizer to address them together, Mr. Arhin stated.

But Kelvin Ekow Baidoo Tailor has described the latter reasons as frivolous. The 'with all due respect' presenter stated on Loud Silence TV this evening monitored by CitizenOne, that Pfizer was a private entity and Angela Mickel couldn't interfere with their arrangements with other states whatsoever. He added that Ghana's Presidency was too respected an office for Pfizer to disappoint after making an arrangement with its head of state. Kelvin opined that there was no any arrangement to meet board members of Pfizer in the first place. He alleged that the President was in Germany for a medical check up but decided to hide that from Ghanaians.

Inasmuch as CitizenOne cannot single handedly confirm this allegation, the questions begging for answers are; has Pfizer disrespected the president of Ghana? Why would a company like Pfizer book an appointment with a head of state to meet him one on one, change the arrangement after the president had boarded a flight and flown to Germany? As at the time President Akuffo Addo was leaving the shores of Ghana, was there an arrangement for other African countries to converge in Germany for an address? Is there anything the Presidency of Ghana is not telling us as citizens? Is there anything wrong in letting Ghanaians know if the President was going for a medical checkup?

These and many are the questions needing urgent answers from the Presidency. You may leave your comments at the comments section.
