Its pardonable for someone to commit a clerical error on any document and latter seek to correct it but this mistake noticeable on nine documents as presented by the Ministry Local Government Decentralization and Rural Development through the Ministry of Information must not go unpunished. For a government that prides itself as having competent people, this stains their reputation and needs to be checked.
The more reason for which the call is very apt is the fact that the mistake as committed on the list of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, as nominated for confirmation and appointment by the President, the coat of arms which is a signature of power was wrongly placed on list of nine regions. It is either the coat of arms was turned upside down or the watermarked document on which the list was printed for the affected regions was flipped upside down.
This is a total breach and whoever was responsible for the production must be sanctioned. Such mistakes cannot be entertained as it puts the presidency and the office of the Ministry of Local Government Decentralization and Rural Development for public ridicule. Already, Yayra Koku of the opposition National Democratic Congress has spotted the anomaly and is creating ‘hell’ out of it.
The nine affected regions are; Western, Western North, Northern, North East, Oti, Savannah, Volta, Upper West, and Upper East. Yayra Koku lambasted the government on Facebook with a caption on one these the affected list as follows; “Our Coat of Arms. No wonder this country is in a mess.”
It would be appropriate the Ministry of Information is alerted on this mistake and cause the responsible ministry to effect the necessary document before it gets too late. In fact it is rather late but turning an blind eye to a document as this will be disastrous.
This list is an official reference list of a communication from the seat of government, and to emphasize, a proposal of nominees who are to represent the President at the various district assemblies across the country who will prosecute his developmental agenda for the final term.
