The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has publicly made a declaration that 90 percent of Senior High Schools in the country have been connected to free WiFi.
The Lawyer and women's right activist made the declaration on his official Facebook page on Monday, 15th February 2021, the same day she was vetted as Minister Designate for Communication & Digitalisation
She also revealed that the next challenge after the connection of the free WiFi to most SHS is how to replicate that in the Junior High Schools as the Education Ministry seeks to introduce blended learning, that is the mixture of virtual learning and face to face.
She added that the Ministry will need to put out some infrastructure to support such an initiative since it stands as one of the Ministry's top priority.
On the 16th of September, 2020 Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, then Minister of Communications hinted that government will provide free WiFi for all Senior High Schools the following month, this she explained was the government's strategy to bridge the gap created in the world of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
The Vice-President, Dr. Muhamadu Bawumia during the party's manifesto launch in August last year stated similarly that the Party when retained in the December polls, will provide Senior High Schools with free WiFi.
