There has been so much brouhaha regarding certain comments made by MP for Madina over the week. This led to a verbal fight between the MP and the Ghana Bar Association. Xavier Sosu had raised issues about the supposed arrest of journalists who speak against the government. He queried why the GBA looked on without acting.
Today, Wednesday, on GHToday on GH-One, Sam George while reacting to the brouhaha threw caution to the wind when he agreed with Xavier Sosu that the GBA was ‘useless’. He noted that when something remains irrelevant for a long time it becomes useless. When asked to withdraw the statement he made, the MP for Ningo Prampram refused and said the fact that he was an Elder didn’t mean that he has to be quiet.
He refused to retract and this caused the host, Lantam Papanko to say that GH-One was disassociating themselves from the harsh comments of Sam George. After this pronouncement from the host, Sam George got even more angrier. He wondered the rationale behind what the host said. He accused the media of being cowards when they are to support the MPs who are standing with them. He noted that same media men when beaten and abused by government institutions will run to the NDC MPs to defend them.
With tempers flaring, the host changed the topic being discussed and called on Sam George to tone down on his words for the sake of the viewers.
