The 2020 Elections is one of the worst elections we have had; Mahama throws fresh "attack" at the EC

Ex-president John Dramani Mahama has described the 2020 General Elections as one of the worst in the history of the country. John Dramani Mahama said this while addressing the people of the Volta Region on Global 105.1 FM in Ho ( on October 17). According to John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress disputed the elections and went to court because a lot of things were not done the right way. He stated that the declaration made by Jane Mensa was wrong. To him, the EC chair should have cross-checked the results before to ensure they add up before coming out to declare rather than declaring multiple results that did not add up.

".... We disputed the elections because a lot of things were not done the way they should be done. If you look at what happened in the elections, we went to court to, one, the declaration of the results was wrong. The Electoral Commissioner when she declared the results, which is the fundamental point of the case we took to the Supreme Court. She made a mistake in the numbers. The numbers didn't add up and she went and corrected it and they went and corrected it again. They corrected it several times. This is the first time in the history of Ghana that elections results have been corrected several times", he said.

John Dramani Mahama, among other things, alleged that authentic ballot papers were found with people and also there were ballot box staffing during the 2020 elections. He, therefore, concluded that the 2020 General Elections were the worst in the history of the country.

" This the first elections we had were authentic ballot papers are found with people and ballot boxes are stuffed. This is the first elections we have had, where we have all gone to the printing houses to sign off on the ballot printing because the printing houses are given how many ballot papers they should print. And all our party agents went there to sign off. After they have packaged the ballot papers and we dispatch them, and then somebody forgets something, he goes back to the printing house, and millions of extra ballot papers have been printed. ... And so this has been one of the worst elections we have had", he added.
