The people of Okuapeman are celebrating their biggest festival which has caught the attention of many Ghanaians. Many people have trooped in to witness the beautiful and wonderful culture of the people of Akuapim-Akropong. Odwira festival is purposely celebrated to commemorate their victory over the Ashantis and also purge themselves for protection from their gods. It is a very historic festival indeed.
Angel Broadcasting Network representatives went to the mountainous area to also witness the festival. Kofi Adoma Nwanwani and Nana Yaa Brefo took it upon themselves to interview some of the natives in the town. One person who was interviewed was the Assembly member of the area who is just 25 years of age. According to him, he won the elections hands down because of certain things he was doing for the people. This young man is a credit card seller but took it upon himself to fetch water for the all the old women in the community.
All the old women in the town who have difficulty in fetching water due to the water problem at the area got his help. He will go a long distance to the stream to fetch buckets of water for them. After making those sacrifices, it touched the hearts of the women who supported him to win the elections. If not the youngest assembly member, he is one of the youngest in Ghana if I'm not mistaking. Kofi Adoma was even astonished for how the tricks of this young man worked for him. He therefore used the opportunity to appeal to the government and his leadership to construct bore holes for the people in the community so that the difficulties with regards to portable water will minimise.
