Alban Bagbin Gives Minister 2 Hours To Appear Before Parliament Today Or Face The Consequences.

It was another interesting day at Parliament today, Monday, March 29, 2021 as the House debated issues concerning the nation. The day started on a hot note as the Speaker Alban Bagbin sent a strong caution to some MPs.

The Minister of Health, Kweku Agyemang-Manu was today scheduled to answer some questions. However, in a response, the Majority Chief Whip Annor Dompreh stated that the Minister of Health was on another business outside Accra and so will not be present.

This was debunked by Muntaka Mubarak, who insisted that it was a disregard for Parliament and need to be checked.

The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah was quick to defend the Minister of Health but this didn’t help much as the Speaker ruled that he had given the Minister of Health 2 hours to appear before Parliament to answer the questions.

“The time is 11:40am. I have given him 2 hours to appear before Parliament or face the consequences” Alban Bagbin said.

The next question was also to be answered by the Minister of Trade but apparently he was also absent. This led to some drama in Parliament as members debated over the absence of members scheduled to present papers. What do you make of this?
