“The Parity We Seek and Need Will Continue to Elude Us”: Dr Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings Speaks.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 in most countries in the world. It is a special day to eulogies, appreciate and encourage women to perform their various pertinent roles in our daily lives.

The IWD is predominantly championed by feminist movement in order to address all challenges that hamper women empowerment in the world.

Today, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle constituency, Dr Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, has raised a common salient challenge that confronts women in their lives.

According to her, women should not be seen as a minority, weak, powerless and assailable if only we want to bridge gender inequality gab and promote women empowerment in our communities.

However, failure to support and enhance economic, social and political fortunes of women would lead to negative stereotyping of vulnerable women at the cost of their dignity, pride and womanhood.

Therefore, she calls for abrogation of abusive culture and treatments that subject women to the minority class of gender.

She wrote that

“Until we stop treating women like minorities, or to be placated out of the way, the parity we seek and need will continue to elude us. Choose to Challenge”

She wrote this on Facebook today.
