The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, has done a major shake-up with an appointments of a new leadership for the National Security Apparatus.
According to a statement from the Communications Directorate of the Jubilee House, the National Security Coordinator, Amb. Major General (RTD), Francis Adu Amanfoh, has been reassigned by the President to act as Special Adviser to the President for the Accra initiative.
Accordingly, the President has also with immediate effect appointed the Deputy National Security Coordinator, Mr. Edward Asomani, to act as National Security Coordinator with effect from Monday 8th August 2022.
Additionally, he also appointed Mr. Kwaku Domfeh, the Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) as Ambassador designate to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In other not to keep the work of the NIB at a standstill, the President has appointed Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, the present Deputy General of the NIB, to act with effect from Monday 8th August, 2022, as the Director General of the National intelligence Bureau.
The appointments are subjected to confirmation also being subject to the receipt of the constitutionally required advice from the National Security Council with consultation of public service commissions.
