The shocking list of cabinet Ministers (as described by some commentators) has caught the attention of the Tongu Member of Parliament and Madam Nana Oye Bampoe Addo.
Reacting to the list, Mr Ablakwa said it is unacceptable for the President to include only three women in a 19-member cabinet Ministers.
"Only 3 women in a 19-member cabinet cannot be acceptable in 2021. Many progressive countries such as Rwanda, Some South Africa, Canada, Columbia etc have left us behind in appointing gender-balamced cabinets. Not even a the Gender Minister".
On her part, the former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo has described as shocking and unacceptable the exclusion of the Gender Minister. Speaking on Adom TV yesterday, the former NDC Minister said it is an indication that President Akufo-Addo does not really care about the level of deprivation and poverty in the country.
Her argument was that, any serious president who is interested in poverty reduction and the protection of the vulnerable members of the society should not form a cabinet, the highest decision making body without the inclusion of the Minister in charge of that sector.
