The Communication Officer of the Opposition National Democratic (NDC), Comrade Sammy Gyamfi has revealed that, the economy of the country, led by the Akuffo Addo and the Bawumia’s government, got broken long before the coming of the corona virus pandemic, and so they (the NPP government), should stop blaming the bad economy on the covid-19 pandemic.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, this Akuffo Addo led government borrowed over two hundred and sixty billion cedis; “you have not build one secondary school, you have not build one university, you’ve not build one hospital, you’ve not build one major market, you’ve not build one airport, and you want to call people names”?. Sammy Gyamfi again stated that, President Nana Addo should stop calling others a ‘disaster’; because he (Nana Addo), is the real definition of a disaster; “he is a walking disaster”.
Speaking on Pan African TV’s Night program ‘Hot News’, Sammy Gyamfi said, even with covid-19 pandemic, whereas our neighboring countries were recording far lower budget deficit because they exercised a high sense of responsibility, and lived within their means, the Nana Addo-Bawumia economy was recording a high budget deficit because of their reckless consumption.
Sammy Gyamfi added that, the Nana Addo-Bawumia government is the most resourced government in Ghana’s history; because they are the only government who have benefitted from three oil firms; also adding that, the Mahama’s government handed over to this NPP government an economy where the power outages (Dumsor), had completely been solved). He again revealed that, the NDC government handed over to the NPP government an economy without any problems, and so this government has no excuses to give to Ghanaians for the current bad state of the economy.
Comrade Sammy Gyamfi further revealed that, the NPP government led by Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia were spending recklessly and doing everything possible to win the December 2020 elections; and that was the reasons why they imposed more taxes on Ghanaians in other to finance the deficit.
Sammy also hinted that, the current bad state of the Nana Addo-Bawumia’s economy is not about the covid pandemic, “covid only worsened an already bad economy, covid only exposed an already bad economy, and even before covid, the economy was already on the decline”, he said.
“And if we are here to talk about economic performance, President Akuffo Addo and Dr. Bawumia put together comes nowhere close to John Mahama”, he said; and adding that, John Dramani Mahama is the only president who have used the nation’s money and resources judiciously to the interest and benefit of the ordinary Ghanaian.
Do you agree with Comrade Sammy Gyamfi’s comments, that Preside Nana Addo and Bawumia put together, is nowhere close to John Mahama in terms of economic performance?
