Double Salary Saga: NDC MPs 'Squeezing The Balls' Of Nana Addo Government?

Sunday, 28th November 2021

During the ministerial vetting, many Ghanaians were disappointed in the opposition NDC for approving all nominees inspite of clear evidence that some didn't quality for the positions they were being nominated for.

Many got angry when Hon. Hawa Koomson who shot at unarmed voters in her constituency had the highest votes before the plenary and was approved as fisheries minister. Other persons who were expected to be rejected were Hon. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu and Hon. Ken Ofori Atta.

All sort of explanations came out in attempt to defend the action of the minority caucus. Initially, some people accused members of the minority of taking bribes to approve the incompetent ministers but the MPs denied the claim.

One explanation they didn't speak on was that the government was squeezing their testicles. This allegation was made by an independent presidential candidate in 2016, Mr. Jacob Osei Yeboah (JOY). According to JOY, some of the NDC MPs had being accused of taking double salaries during the Mahama regime.

He alleged that, the government of Nana Akufo Addo told them to either approve it's nominees or face prosecution as investigations were completed. This, in JOY's opinion accounted for the disappointment the minority displayed during the ministerial vetting.

Fast forward, the Government presented the 2022 budget to parliament on 17th November and to cut a long story short, it was rejected by NDC led parliament. If JOY's opinion was anything to go by, then the minority MPs have chosen to face prosecutions.

Another twist is that, the minority MPs have proofed to the Nana Addo government that indeed they are powerful and can make his administration ungovernable if they choose to based on the number of MPs they have. This is a signal to the Government that if it dare touches any member of the minority and by extension NDC appointees, it should prepare for serious consequences. In effect they too are squeezing the balls to f the Government.

Days ahead have promised to be very interesting. Do well to follow me for updates.
