Amend chieftaincy act and involve Nananom in governance - Chief tells parliament

Nana Ainoo Kwagyan III- Esiama Chief

Chief of Esiama in the Ellembelle district of Western region, Nana Ainoo Kwagyan III, has called on parliament of Ghana to amend the chieftaincy act to allow Chiefs to fully partake in governance.

"It's time for government to relook into the chieftaincy act, amend it and designate power for chiefs to participate in governance."

He says, chiefs (Nananom) have been sidelined over active participation in governance for far too long.

This has resulted in many riots, defiant behaviours and killings in the Ghanaian societies.

Nevertheless, these criminalities and brutalities in various communities in the country could be solved if Nananom are giving the ultimate power to involve in governance.

According to him, the peace of the nation could greatly be sustained if government give the mandate to chiefs to exercise in active governance.

The Esiama chief is however calling on government headed by President Akufo-Addo to intervene and resolve issues regarding chieftaincy that are retarding the development of Western region.
