Percival Kofi Akpaloo, the founder and leader of the opposition Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has referred to the NDC leadership as "nation wreckers" with nothing beneficial to give Ghana. His criticism follows the NDC's adamant resistance to the Ghanaian Electoral Commission (EC) using the National Identification card as the only document to register people as voters.
The NDC has fought against the EC's plan to make the Ghana Card the only valid form of identification for voting in general elections starting in 2024 and onward. The party claimed in a statement issued under the National Chairman Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo that it is resisting the decision because it will disenfranchise many eligible Ghanaians.

However, Mr. Akpaloo responded to this in an interview with Onua TV on Tuesday, August 9, by criticizing the NDC leadership for consistently declining to attend IPAC meetings in order to provide input on Ghana's election reforms.
He was furious with the NDC's actions and their determination to boycott IPAC gatherings while brazenly criticizing the EC, political parties, and other stakeholders for their decisions.
He asked, "Can the NDC leadership boldly and openly say that the party has not been served letters to attend IPAC meetings to discuss Ghana's electoral reforms? "The NDC have strongly refused to attend IPAC meetings since the 2020 general elections and they feel that without them we cannot hold meetings to take decisions."
Mr. Akpaloo voiced concern over the NDC's choice to oppose the NIA card registration process from the start and its swift U-turn to place the responsibility on the secretariat. He asked the public to reject the NDC's attitude and cunning methods for downplaying the EC's judgments, insisting that the NIA card will be the only paperwork used for the voters' register.
