There was a legislative sitting at the Parliament house of the eighth Parliament of the fourth republic yesterday. The purpose of yesterday's sitting was for the honorable sports minister to provide a detailed document on the 2023 All African Games scheduled to be hosted in the country.
The sports minister who was the one to brief the house on the progress of the preparations done towards the bug sporting event was some minutes late as he kept the house waiting before he finally arrived at the auditorium.
The sports minister upon realising he was some minutes late first had to apologize to the house through the speaker for keeping them waiting. The excuse he gave for his lateness was that he had to meet the presidency for a cabinet meeting before he could come to the house.
But surprisingly, the speaker of Parliament in the person of Right honorable Alban Sumaila Bagbin, openly told the sports minister that he should know that his duty is to be carried at the Parliament house and not the jubilee house.
"The jubilee house is for the executive and the parliament house is for the legislature which you as e part of the 275 members of parliament. Your duties are to be executed mainly at this house. Though your apology is accepted", he warned.
Is the speaker being too harsh towards the honorable sports minister, after knowing that aside being an mp he is a cabinet member?
