According to Kwame Danso, an editor at starfm.com, who came on GHone’s Week In Review show this morning, there is no political Will to solve the issues with illegal mining activities popularly known as Galamsey.
He went on to say that, both the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress have not made their minds to solve the galamsey issue one and for all because big party members are into the act and destroying the water bodies and forests.
He went ahead and said that, the operation vanguard team which was deployed by the president, was very corrupt and was taking money from these galamsey operators and giving them protection.
Kwame pointed to the fact that, most of these chiefs are being bribe with huge sums of money as well as the political careers of the MCEs and DCEs as well as the MPs are being financed by these galamsey operators.
He concluded that, the NPP lost most of it’s seats in the mining constituencies because the locals were prevented from illegal mining activities whiles other people were allowed to mine with protection from the National Security Agency. And also the government failed Ghanaians when the Chinese galamsey kingpin, Aisha Huang was not prosecuted when arrested.
