The Nayiri Kusa-Naaba, Nba Abugri Alfred the Kusaasi Chief of the Mamprugu kingdom and Leader of all Kusaasi in Ghana have cautioned Kusaasi in the North East region and all over the country against involving themselves in the Political conflict in Bawku.
He made this call at the Nayiri Palace in Nalerigu after participating in the mammoth demonstration by the Chiefs and Youth of the Mamprugu kingdom against the terrorist activities in Bawku by people purporting themselves to be Kusaasi led by one Aninchema Abugrago Azoka who is a Yaanga by tribe and not a Kusaasi.
Kusa-Naaba Abugri Alfred noted that Mamprusi and Kusaasi have lived peacefully and intermarried for centuries. He noted that, the history of Kusaasi did not start in 1957 so Kusaasi youth should not fall prey to the deceptions by some self seeking individuals who seek to plant the seed of hatred between Mamprusi and Kusaasi for their parochial interest.
Nba Kusa-Naa Abugri also emphasized that, his father served at the Palace of the Nayiri, Naa Sheriga Abdulai(1948-1966) the 30th King of the Mamprugu kingdom and father of the reigning Nayiri, Naa Bohagu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga. And now he has resumed the work of his father as Kusa-Naaba enskined by the Nayiri Naa Bohagu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga.
Nba Kusa-Naaba cautioned that any Kusaasi Youth in the North East region or elsewhere, that is caught to be involved in the Bawku Political conflict should be brought before him and that person will be dealt with to serve as deterrent for others. He also noted that Kusaasi and Mamprusi were living peacefully until 1957 when Dr. Kwame Nkrumah made the Yaanga stooge a Political Chief that have caused the conflict in Bawku all this years.
He concluded by saying that Mamprusi should embrace Kusaasi and let us live peacefully like how their forefathers and our forefathers use to live in the time past.
