U/W: Chiefs Meet Government Again over Sissala Roads

Chiefs of Sissala Traditional Area in Upper West Region have stormed Accra to demand their fair Share of the EU farm Roads Allocated to the Region.

According to the Chiefs, the Sissala Land is a farming community yet neglected in the distribution of Farm roads contract.

Statement from Sissala Royal Elder (Issah Salifu Kanton)

"I joined a delegation of Chiefs, Youth and Members of Parliament from the Sissala East, Sissala West and Wa East Districts to Engage the Minister of Roads and Highways as well as the Minister of Food and Agriculture to address concerns of the people of Sissala Land on their exclusion from the EU Funded Feeder /Farm Access Roads Project.

The dialogue was very fruitful.

The two Cabinet Ministers who represented the government immediately apologized for excluding the three Agrarian Districts from the EU Funded Feeder Roads Project.

They noted that the exclusion of Sissala East, Sissala West and WA East was a Mistake which they have taken a firm decision to correct immediately.

The two Cabinet Ministers made a firm commitment to ensure that the excluded three Districts will get their fair share of allocation of the EU Funded projects.

The Sissala East MP (Amidu Chinnia), WA East MP (Dr Seidu Jasaw) and the Sissala West MP (Mohammed Adam Sukparu) participated in the discussion and commit to follow up on the commitments and agreements reached".
