September 21 to be observed as a Public Holiday - Interior Ministry

The Ministry of Interior has announced that coming Tuesday, September 21, is a Public Holiday and must be treated as such throughout the country.

This holiday is a day to observe the late first President of the Republic, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah thus, a memorial day.

This was contained in a press release that came from the Ministry signed by the Interior Minister, Mr. Ambrose Derry. 

Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was the first President of Ghana. He was born at Nkroful, a town within Nzema in 1909 and later left the country to study in Europe. He was a Revolutionalist who was invited by some political party leaders to come and assist them in forming and running their party in the then Gold Coast. 

With his revolutionary ideas, he got into the country after his PhD, and later broke broke from the party to form his own which eventually left the country into independence. 

The Convention People's Party was then formulated (CPP) with lots of young and vibrant Ghanaians who were semi-literates.
