This comes after the majority side in Parliament walked out of the Parliament room due to a disagreement with the speaker of Parliament and other factors. The reason why the majority of Parliament walked out is quite unclear but according to reports, it was because of the presence The General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia in Parliament. This was the reason why the majority walked out of Parliament on that day.
With their absence, the decision was made and the 2022 Budget was rejected by the minority in Parliament.
There are however two ways the government can deal with this.
It's either they go to court or present a new budget to the house.
The majority are of the view that, the budget was rejected unconstitutionally because the number of MPs at the Parliament at that time was less than half of the total parliamentarians which is totally against the constitution. The government can proceed to court for the voting to be done again.
Or the government can bring a new budget to the floor of Parliament for another deliberation since this budget had been rejected.
