Bantama MP Sends Strong Warning To Captain Smart Regarding His False Accusations

Francis Asenso Boakye, a member of parliament for the Bantama seat, has instructed his attorneys to send Captain Smart an official letter retracting and sincerely apologizing for wrongly accusing him of matters he is unaware of.

Hon. Asenso Boakye made the claim on his Facebook page after viewing a video in which Captain Smart mentioned him on the "Maakye" morning show on Accra's Onua TV in connection with a dispute involving a Ghanaian company, Labianca Company Limited, and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

In addition, Smart claimed that Asenso interfered with Mr. Adubufour's transfer, a Customs officer assigned to the Tema Harbour, despite a disciplinary committee's recommendation. To set the record straight, the lawmaker said it is regretful that Captain Smart chose to distort the truth in a heinous effort to tarnish his well-earned reputation.

According to him, the charges made by Captain Smart are untrue and without merits, and as a journalist, he expected him to carry out his duties with the utmost honesty and integrity, much as is expected of all public workers and anybody working to advance good governance in the interest of the country.

He says he has informed his attorneys to write to Captain Smart and demand a retraction and an apology in light of the aforementioned. I hope this will be handled quickly and given the same prominence as the untrue claim made on his show," he said in a closing statement.
