The incumbent President, Nana Akufo Addo has recently sparked massive stir, debates and arguments across all social media platforms after his brilliant reply to a presenter over legal of LGBT in the country finally popped up.
Speaking on the most anticipated “Kokrokoo” show on Peace Fm, the incumbent President, Nana Akufo Addo was given the privilege to share his immense opinions and thoughts on the most anticipated LGBT bill currently been debated in parliament.
According to the incumbent President, Nana Akufo Addo made it clear that, the bill is currently in parliament as the lawmakers and private stakeholders keep deliberating on the most anticipated issue.
“It’s in parliament; it’s a private members bill. We’ve been fighting for a long time the opportunity for private members to also sponsor bills in parliament. This is the first bill that has been sponsored per the opening that has been given. The parliament is looking at it and let’s see how the process develops”, Nana Akufo Addo emphatically stated.
Whilst addressing the issue of being pressured about either legalizing the anti-LGBT bill or not, President Akufo Addo took the privilege to reply the host of the show, Kwame Sefa Kayi with a brilliant response whilst highlighting that, he doesn’t feel pressured by the bill nor the public since the bill is still in parliament.
”I can’t feel pressured; we talk about public opinion and the legitimate processes that are in use. What I would hope for is that the debate itself would be civil and that we could recognize the need for us to be tolerant to each other even when there are opposing views. I was impressed by the intervention by renowned and well position people; the civil society and sector of our country coming forward to express their views on the matter. I think it would be a credit to Ghanaian democracy of the matter is handled in the correct manner. I’m hoping they the process will be conducted in an acceptable manner and at the end of the day, we’ll know the position our legislature will take on the issue”, President Akufo Addo emphatically revealed.
