NPP Magic Works Against NDC In Legon SRC Election; Dina Hamilton Favorite Sadly Loses

Fear voters !!!. Indeed every seasoned Politician will tell you to fear voters. Yes, this is because they will give you lip support and kill your dreams with their thumb in the ballot box. Despite all the heavy spending on her online campaign and trending on social media platforms, it ended in sadness for Rebecca Dery.

The run up to the University of Ghana Student Representative Council Elections saw many endorsement from some influential personalities. Notably among them was the VGMA artiste of the year Dina Hamilton. She made a video with Rebecca Dery who was contesting for the Legon SRC secretary position and endorsed her. Popular media man Kafui Dey also joined Rebecca Dery against Stephanie Naadu Antwi.

ENDORSEMENT FROM DINA HAMILTON AND KAFUI DEY

Despite the endorsement, Rebecca Dery lost the election to Stephanie Naadu Antwi. One interesting thing about Rebecca Dery was that, some NPP fanatics perceived her to be an NDC girl. They read meaning into her choice of colors red, green, black and white.

Most NPP fanatics on Legon main campus who supported Rebecca Dery became unhappy with her choice of colors for her public images. They saw the red, black, green and white as colors for the NDC. Despite clarification from Rebecca Dery's camp, many were not convinced. What's wrong with the NDC colors? Well, let me focus and mind my business.

REBECCA'S PERCEIVED NDC COLORS RED, WHITE, GREEN AND BLACK

Interestingly, immediately the Legon main campus NPP student front realized that Rebecca Dery was gradually becoming an alleged toast of the NDC on Legon campus, they quickly organized a press conference and threw their support for Stephanie Naadu Antwi.

THE NPP PUBLICLY ENDORSED STEPHANIE AND OTHER NPP AFFILIATED CANDIDATES

Interestingly the Accra city campus NPP caucus Came out with clarification that Rebecca Dery is part of the NPP and not NDC. They Urged people to vote for her. However, the main campus NPP had endorsed Stephanie already.

THE ACCRA CITY CAMPUS NPP TESCON ENDORSED REBECCA

The fight was clear between two NPP Students.I'm still wondering why the NDC couldn't pull through when it became clearer that the two fore runners Stephanie Naadu Antwi and Rebecca Dery are all NPP affiliated candidates.

As usual, just like how Legon students usually worked magic for the NPP, they did the same for Stephanie Naadu Antwi who was more or less the " NPP Candidate". She won with 7,373 votes (52.82%) against Rebecca Dery the " perceived NDC candidate" who also garnered 4,849 votes (34.74%). The last candidate Jonell Mate Kodjo ( perhaps the independent candidate lol) garnered paltry 1737 (12.44%)

Wait, was it worth for the NPP and religious celebrities (Dina Hamilton) journalist ( Kafui Dey) to mingle themselves in Student politics? All the Contestants will deny political involvement in their campaign. However, the reality was witnessed throughout the campaign period.
