Former President and leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress is still on his nationwide thank you tour to express his appreciation to the people of Ghana for their support during the last elections. As part of his tour, he is currently in the Bono Region of Ghana after he resumed the second phase of his tour.
He paid a courtesy call on the traditional authorities of the Techiman Community. The love Ghanaians have for John Mahama is something beyond doubts. Thousands of people poured out to the streets to meet him and catch a glimpse of his tour. Mr. Mahama was seen waving the people and the smiles on their faces embodied a glimmer of hope.
Mr. Mahama addressing the leaders and people expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the millions who stormed the polling centres to cast their vote for him and the NDC. He stated that he remains resolute and committed to serving Ghanaians in the years to come. Speaking further, he lamented the rising cost of living, high rate of corruption and borrowing and the unemployment rate of the country under the Akuffo-Addo and Bawumia government.
John Mahama also decried the recent state of the country's political appointments that have left many Ghanaian youths unemployed. Inquiring about the state of the Techiman projects he initiated, he made a pledge to complete them and introduce new ones on his return to power. "We can all see what is happening in our country. People are crying and seeking help which are not even available. I have come to thank you all and also give you hope for the future."
Ending the tour, the traditional authorities also left some words of encouragement to the former President. The leader thanked Mahama over his humble gesture and his unrelenting commitment to serving the Techiman community. Mahama was also advised to keep his promises as they will help him to gain the trust of Ghanaians.
The Islamic leader stated, "We know who you are. You have served Ghana and Techiman very well. We are very grateful. I want you to remember everything you pledge to do and you'll go higher. Keep our words very well, because they will help you in future."
