The Member of Parliament for the people in North Tongu-Volta Region, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has expressed his views on the 2022 budget that was presented to the floor of parliament by the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta.
According to the North Tongu MP, who is also the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, “Parliament will not reconsider the 2022 budget statement, after its rejection, and that they (the minority)are burying it for good”.
On his Facebook page, Honourable Ablakwa said, “There can be no greater honour than doing exactly what the people who sent you to Parliament expect of you. I am proud that we successfully killed the killer budget. Government’s only nationalistic option is to eat humble pie, and present another budget which must be a product of broad consultation with the Ghanaian people”.
Honourable Okudzetto Ablakwa further revealed that, “We shall continue to stand with the Ghanaian people—that is what parliamentary representation is about. That killer budget isn’t coming back; we burying it for good. We are grateful to all Ghanaians for the support and solidarity”.
Mr. Okudzetto Ablakwa made these comments following the rejection of the 2022 budget, which was rejected by the Minority NDC caucus in parliament, on Friday, 26 November 2021.
Do you believe, that the NDC caucus in parliament can continue to resist the pressure from the NPP majority, in their attempt to re-visit the budget for approval? How strong is the NDC?
