Do you have a good understanding of the National Democratic Congress? (NDC).

Jerry Rawlings, who was Head of State of Ghana from 1981 to 1993 and President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001, created the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a social democratic political party in Ghana.

The international community put pressure on Ghana to restore democracy after the formation of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), which ruled after a military coup on December 31, 1981.

The NDC was founded as the dominant party ahead of the 1992 presidential elections, in which Rawlings was elected president, and he was re-elected as the NDC candidate in 1996. In 2001, Rawlings' second term came to an end.

The NDC lost the presidency in the 2000 election and did not reclaim it until 2008, when John Atta Mills was elected as the party's candidate. They drafted Ghana's constitution in 1992.

The NDC's symbol is an umbrella with a dove's head on the tip. Red, white, green, and black are the party colors, while the slogan or motto is "Unity, stability, and development." The NDC is a member of the Progressive Alliance and Socialist International on a global scale. The NDC lost the presidency in the 2000 election and did not reclaim it until 2008, when John Atta Mills was elected as the party's candidate. The Electoral Commission of Ghana announced NDC candidate John Dramani Mahama as President-elect on December 9, 2012, following a hotly contested election in which he received 50.7 percent of the vote cast.
