Johnnie Hughes Gives Brilliant Reply When Asked By NPP MP To Contribute To National Cathedral

Johnnie Hughes, host of Johnnies Bite and co-host of The Big Issue today, Monday, September 26, 2022 engaged MP for Anyaa Sowutwom, Dr. Adomako Kissi. The duo discussed the IMF discussion with government today. According to Johnnie Hughes he was pessimistic that government will make use of the money that the government will be given by the financial institution.

According to Johnnie, the government has proved to be inept and this caused some Ghanaians to boo the president at the Global Citizen Festival. Johnnie also raised issues about misplaced priorities such as building a national cathedral.

Dr. Adomako however tried to encourage Johnnie to pay for the building of the cathedral as a sign of goodwill. He explained to Johnnie that paying will also create employment for the laborers who will be employed to work. He urged Johnnie that with the huge following he has he can encourage Ghanaians to contribute to the building of the cathedral.

“I am throwing this challenge to you today that I think by virtue that you have a lot of followers it will be nice to also put in something” Dr Kissi said

Johnnie however wasn’t going to be swayed so easily. He gave a number of reasons why he was not going to contribute to the national cathedral. Johnnie explained that he will use his money to solve other issues. He mentioned how on his birthday he registered a number of Ghanaians to the National Health Insurance Scheme. He stated that his church has a beautiful cathedral and so cannot be motivated to help build another one.

“I use my money to register people for free NHIS. That is what I will use my money for. My church has the most beautiful cathedral in Ghana. I will go into history as giving people life” Johnnie explained. With Johnnie not ready to agree to his challenge, the MP discontinue the conversation and juxtaposed the cathedral to the one that the late Queen of the UK was buried in.
